Rich, jewel-like purple Murano glass is the star of this gorgeous square pendant necklace. Handmade in Venice, Italy, the deep plum glass is hand set in sterling silver and suspended from a beautifully smooth, slinky silver snake chain. Choose from a 16-inch or 18-inch chain to suit your neckline.

The glass comes from the island of Murano, where skilled Venetian glassmakers have been making glass for centuries. Each square is individually handmade using traditional glassmaking techniques, before being carefully set into its sterling silver frame. Delicate layers of white gold leaf are incorporated into the deep plum glass, adding beautiful silvery highlights to its rich purple tones.  You'll notice tiny bubbles, flecks and subtle differences in colour and texture. These lovely little irregularities are completely natural and give every piece its own individual character.

Plum is a wonderfully sumptuous shade, with rich berry tones reminiscent of ripe blackberries, damsons and deep aubergine purple. There are hints of mulberry, blackcurrant and dark violet too, giving the glass a gorgeous jewel-like depth of colour. It's fabulous against black, cream and charcoal, but looks equally striking with mustard yellow, forest green or soft pink. The sterling silver frame contrasts beautifully with these rich shades, allowing the purple Murano glass to really shine.
