Striking Cobalt Blue Murano glass, handmade in Venice with delicate containing white gold leaf and set in polished sterling silver, gives this circular pendant necklace its bold colour and distinctive finish. The round glass measures approximately 20mm in diameter and hangs from a sterling silver snake chain, available in 16-inch or 18-inch lengths.

The glass is individually handmade by skilled artisans on the island of Murano in Venice, Italy, using traditional glassmaking techniques. Fine layers of white gold leaf are incorporated into the glass, creating flashes of silver against the intense blue. Once finished, each glass circle is carefully hand set into its sterling silver frame. Little bubbles, flecks and subtle variations give each piece its own character, a lovely feature of genuine handmade Venetian glass.

The round design takes inspiration from the coloured stained-glass windows of Antoni Gaudí's Casa Batlló in Barcelona. Designed to let light into the building while adding colour and decoration, their underwater shades and shapes are reminiscent of jellyfish and ammonites. The combination of rich blue glass and reflective silver gives this necklace a similar play of colour and light.

Cobalt Blue is a wonderfully strong shade, with tones of royal blue, sapphire and deep Mediterranean blue. It's particularly striking against crisp white, navy and cream, while the polished silver frame gives it a clean, bright finish.
